I've caught the bug, and its a nasty one at that!

So taking the advise and inspiration from Sean I've decided to give knitting a go. The scarf he gave me was so cool, and knitting seems like a fulfilling and productive hobby so why not, right?! Well I'll tell you why not cause its damn hard. At least for me. It might be the fact that I'm challenged or it might be that I'm overly ambitious. Rather than starting with a "beginner" pattern I found what Ravelry(.com) lists as an "easy intermediate" pattern. One that I knew I would use and love to have, and one that is historic and therefore factorially fun. Back in WWI, as a way to help/support the troops, patterns where sent out to volunteers to knit winter gear for soldiers. Well, included in this was a pattern for wrist warmers (think fingerless mittens.) Awesome right, and super cute. I picked up some green yard (thanks Katie-every proving her awesomeness that one) and borrowed size three needles from Sean. Away we go, or so I thought. Two hours and at least five maybe six or seven cast ons later, I am desperate for circular needles. Ugh, thus after I'm done working the next few days I plan to pick some up and tackle this project. A take two of sorts. While I am frustrated as all hell, I plan to get through this. Lord only knows what will happen when I work up the gusto to give sewing another go. Although, on a happier note, my super complex cross stitch for Lucy is done, it was a fancy "L" in a pretty dark green thread. Woohoo! It was difficult because it was all one color, AND because it was a negative. Meaning I was stitching the background leave the design in the forefront or the picture you see. Still I got through it, and am going to work on a cute season's cross stitch before I try a "K" in the same vein. Whoa who knew I would be such a crafty devil.....wait don't answer that.

Sean is amazing, one of his many hidden talents I suppose. I'm sticking with cross stitching, but this weekend I'll pick up some circular needles maybe and give it another go.
