"time like these you learn to live again.."

(wrote this a few days ago, Dec. 30th 2008)
To borrow lyrics from Lucy's dreamboat captain, and as cheesy as it sounds, I had one of those superb moments that reminds you how life can be wonderful. Despite the flurry of ferocious cleaning (man....having a clean house and no housework in front of you is a sublime feeling,) hurt and bitter feelings, trials and tribulations, and hectic work days life will give you a moment where it will melt away leaving you with nothing but bliss. Oddly enough, like Sesame Street this was brought to me by....well not a letter, but the televised Kennedy Center Honors. In my freshly cleaned house, I watched ballet danced beautifully to Frank which reminded me of my darling Sean on his way home to me shortly. Of how much we've made it through, of how much we have in front of us, and how he allows me to be me.
Then in a celebration of The Who, Lucy did what she does best. She made me smile and touched my heart. Fresh from a nap and a full bottle, she danced, smiled, and clapped. In the dim light we rocked out. We share an eternal love for music, and she made me once again appreciate the lyrics "Don't cry Don't raise your eye, It's only teenage wasteland.......I don't need to fight to prove I'm right. I don't need to be forgiven!!" Then as I left to put Lucy to bed I heard George Jone's "Bartender's Blues." A rush of memories came back of sitting on Grandma Bonnie's kitchen counter. Learning to cook, paint, and hearing stories behind pictures that looked as ancient as hieroglyphics to my childish eyes. I'm eternally grateful to her, and I cherish those memories. Its these three people's influence that brings out the best in me.
