Front Page News
My house is clean! Its such a relief to look around and have everything picked up. Its amazing how in just a few days and something as simple as a cold virus can knock you out, putting everyone in a whirl wind. Leaving the wreckage all over your home. Regardless the last load of laundry is in the wash and will be put away by bedtime, and the rest of our space is looking great again. Its a feeling that leaves me in a much better mood and ready for the next week to begin.
Business
We should buy stock in IKEA. Beyond just pimping them out myself, as I'm sure anyone who has recently asked me anything furniture or housewares related will attest. I really believe in their product. Lucy's new dresser is working out fabulously, and I am planning ahead and have her next bed picked out. Its a nice grow with me, from toddler to twin, that is of course from the obvious. Katie also picked up a few rockin' items. A terrific bookcase for her office, and a table and chairs for Lucy. For which I have very high hopes. Anyway, Sean and I have become master assemblers. Leaving us satisfied and with time on our hands. Thus continual trips to Draper are defiantly in our future.
Weather
Spring is here, for the most part anyway. The temperature is wavering, and the annual last snow storm on Kelly or Sean's birthday is still in our future. Yet, still I can't help but revile in these warming days. Layers are still a must, but skirts with tights are making a come back in Lucy and my wardrobe. As the valley snow melts, the mountains remain picturesque. I am continually amazed at how beautiful the scenery is just right outside my window. From moment to moment there is a postcard scene. I love Utah and man how I missed its beauty.
I don't love daylight savings. I miss my hour. While spring is an alright season, I despise this contrite and strange displacement of time. I can wrap my head around the idea of it and why it was instituted, but now those reasons seem far fetched and out of touch. I'm almost ready to jump on the Arizona or Hawaii band wagon. Pick one "daylight savings" or "standard" and go with it! Alas I'm not in charge, and as a team we are adapting to the lose of our hour. But its hard to tell a toddler who is just a year and a half old that its bedtime already. Fortunately she is a good girl, and so far so good.
Art&Style
We picked up our Labowski inspired piece from signed and numbered. It looks fabulous along with our other stuff. Its quite a collaboration of art and photos that we have collected. Still I really enjoy the fact that we have it. Its been such an awesome luxury to have Kelly to frame and embellish these things. For that I am really thankful.
A question for the ages, why do I only love retro hairstyles? I've always turned to them. Currently I've got that kinda 60s folk thing going on, granted Zoe and Jenny also rock it so I'm not out on a limb. This weekend I was reminded of the beauty of the vintage 40s look. The silk spectre, the first, had just fabulous hair. Honestly, if I had the time and the arena I would love to wear that do. With Vicky so far away, her hair cut off besides, I seem to be running out of reasons to conduct my hair experiments. Thus if at the next family party I show up with victory rolls, no one act too surprised.
Sports
So football season has long since past, and nothing has really got my interest in the world of sports. So instead...bunko. Fun stuff. Before our move back East I was apart of a bunko group. We played once a month, rotating from house to house, each gal taking a turn as hostess. Since I've come back, my place was obviously taken during my absence, but I get to fill in now and then. So this past time was fun. It was at Shelly's new digs, which are wonderful. While my dice throwing skills aren't up to par, I still managed to win! I won for even split, wins to loses, and I got a sencey (I have no CLUE how that's spelled) plug in. Its cute and awesome, cause it works. Erin might turn out to have a new client.
Health&Fitness
The inevitable arrived. I caught the dreaded cold. Still it hasn't been horrible , with the combination of sixteen hours of sleep and a steady dose of day/night quil I'm not too bad off. Poor Joye caught it too! We tried to ease the harshness to being sick with flowers. Between that and lunch I hope that her road to recovery is short. Lucy's nose is less crusty these days, which is a HUGE relief. Her being sick is the saddest thing ever! The next saddest thing ever, is Sean being sick, and good news he is feeling better too. So, overall, health wise things are looking up. :D
Entertainment
The Watchmen came out, and of course we went. It was great. Although its got mixed reviews, and I did contemplate a big rant on why its good, but I've decided against it. It was well thought out and put together. To those who have judged it without seeing it should hush because they don't understand what is even going on in the movie and the rest are mostly people who went in not wanting to like it. My official review, 4.5 of 5 stars.
Side note, just saw the adventureland trailer, looks awesome, and hooray Bill got another gig!
