Busy little Bees

This last little bit has been a blur. Be careful what you wish for is a tried and true lesson I must learn time and time again. The new unit opened and with a bang. I haven't stopped since the expansion opened on the unit last week. I was training someone new on top of everything and with a pretty steady census of 29 my days are looking really full. I'm just glad I work with a sweet team of cats who aren't afraid to all pitch in. Because if not I'm pretty sure I would have cracked around last Thursday. Of course there are bumps in the road that will, hopefully, eventually smooth over, but for now lunch is a thing of the past and I'm go go go from the moment I step through the door. The oddest part is I am loving how fast my days are going. Lets just prey I can keep up the pace. That environment is bound to be more stressful and I'd be an outright liar if I didn't say there are parts I have trepidations about. But what's the saying "onward and upward"
We had quite a fun weekend though. Saturday we spent the 4th with the extended family out at Dave and Sandy's. Sadly there was no swimming for us seeing as how, even after packing a separate bag and buying the "swimmy" diapers for Lucy, we forgot all our stuff and skipped out on the pool. The good news is my dignity is still in tact as no one had to see me in my swim suit...I don't care if its black there isn't a color on earth that is going to "slim" my figure enough. That's why I'm of the in and quickly out club. I'm in that water so fast and once I'm out I'm back changed into my clothes at lightening pace. Ok enough self deprecation, on with the fun. I did manage, however, to make a rocking American flag cheesecake. Martha would be proud. Every one seemed to enjoy it, or at least they faked it good enough to save my feelings...So yeah for me! I like baking but I gotta have big events so there isn't a ton still at home. Dave grilled meaning I had one of the yummiest burgers ever!! What made it so awesome, glad you asked....hot relish...homemade...yum! The amateur foodie in me was in heaven. It was also a blast to see Lucy on a "big girl" swing. Throw in good conversation with everyone and it was quite a lovely day. We spent Sunday recovering by completely vegging out at home and doing all the laundry. The good news is I'm starting the week basically caught up on my chores. Later this week I'm hoping to go see Jenny Lewis at the Galavian Center on Thursday...I just gotta keep my fingers crossed that Katie can watch the goose for us.
